Santorum Mailbag

On the eve of this, the ever-important New Hampshire primary, we've got a veritable shit-ton of email to share. Check it.

I hate this guy!

I've done a ton of photoshops of him - and wrote various posts on my site about this dangerous bigot:

Nice.

I think you have good intentions by spreading hate and trying to bring santorum down, but from the outside it seems so hypocritical of you to treat someone that way. Would it be ok for someone to do this to you if they don’t agree with your views?

I really feel sorry for you for being so consumed by hate. Obviously misery loves company, and you are doing a good job of gathering your “company".

They do do this to us. That's kind of the point. As a single, sexually active straight woman who would have no trouble having an abortion if it came to that, I am demonized by Rick Santorum every time he opens his mouth about reproductive rights. Dan Savage, a partnered gay man with a kid, is demonized by Rick Santorum ever time he mentions his views on homosexuality. We've responded to our systematic dehumanization by this frothy man by throwing some of his own poopy lube right back at him. And I gotta tell ya, I don't lose any sleep over it.

Obviously giving Santorum the definition, "The frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex." was an attempt to retaliate against statements made by him against homosexuality. However, it seems like this definition is just as degrading to homosexuals since such relationships often involve anal sex. I guess maybe I'm missing something here.

Sincerely

Kevin

Anal sex is for everybody, Kevin, but only people who aren't doing it right will have to deal with santorum.

Hey, I found this crazy blog that says liberals should support Santorum in open primaries in order to sabotage the GOP. Do you think this can work? It sounds absurd...but on the other hand, it would be pretty awesome if he got nominated and everybody started ridiculing the GOP for picking the man with the dirty name.

Any how, check it out.
It's not a bad idea. Rick Santorum is perhaps the least electable of the viable GOP candidates. I know I'll get flack for saying this ("But, Jocelyn! We all thought George W. Bush was unelectable!"), but seriously, he can't get the middle to vote for him when he's railing against social service programs almost as hard as his railing against the idea that some people like to have sex for fun.

Hi Dan,

I've starting "Rick Rolling" folks with your Santorum site. Rather than the "awesome video of a cat playing chess" they're expecting, they get spreadingsantorum.com! Fun and informative! Just thought I'd pass the idea along.

Thanks for all you do!

Jess.
LOL. Still not Dan though. Still Jocelyn.

Eat shit ... biggest loser on the planet. Find religion. Any religion,
besides homosexual sex. That might save you. I pray for you, Pervert.

Have you ever sat back and thought that what you are discussing here is a
candidate for the Commander in Chief of of the greatest country in the
world? Have you no pride, no respect? Oh, right, didn't think so, .....
pedophile psychopaths aren't capable of such intellectual thought.
First time getting called a "pedophile psychopath!" Holla!

Two headlines from Ireland:

First is from the Sunday Business post, second is from The Irish Times… enjoy!

God this never gets old.

Hey -- Thanks for the ongoing (and deserved) Rick-bashing. FYI, the best team name at my local pub trivia night this week: "Santorum Comes in Number Two"

Dave
Thanks for sharing!

And before I go, I hope y'all are following our new twitter account, @SpreadSantorum. It's pretty frothy. Tell your friends!

  2. I really appreciate what spreadingsantorum.com does and what it stands for in the larger sense - when it comes to fighting the so called moral right wingers, it's become clear that the only way to do so is to fight fire with fire - or, in this case, "The frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the by-product of anal sex." boo-ya!

    1. Yeah, but if the fight actually involved actual santorum - it'd get pretty messy.

  3. This article here proves that you are all ignorant Disgusting despicable examples of human beings. If you agree with any of the words said in this article I pity you And your of what's right and wrong. Savage you must not be a very intelligent person at all instead of coming up with a logical argument you go straight for attacking people in the most despicable way I've ever seen. Sir I might not agree with what you have to say but as a freedom loving american who believes that everybody in this country has the right to say what they want I will defend to the death your right to say it .

  4. The post above me is a phenomenal piece of psychology, one that could only appear in America. Kudos to you David.

As a reluctant citizen of the USA's bitch Santorum worries me beyond measure. His stance on Iran is seriously terrifying, and his commentary on homosexuality and abortion is repugnant.

Fight this fight for everyone else on the planet, otherwise we'll be blaming you for wrecking the world (again ;))

    Caw sincerely,
    Black Crow

  5. Hi Jocelyn!

My wife finds the darndest things on the web! In a few weeks, when I clear my workload a bit, I look forward to reading more of your blog, but for now, this will have to do. You're doing wonderful work that makes real human beings proud. I wrote off Santorum after the 2011.0505 debate and a little review of his history. Here are my notes from 05/06:

    <<
    Rick Santorum
Pennsylvania 2-term Rep, 2-term Sen, lost by 18% spread
Easy NO. Talks about God's calling, threat of Islam, threat of Iran, nation's security is Job One, threat of homosexuality, supports and defends our treatment of Guantanamo prisoners, opposes abortion, opposes amnesty for immigrants, promotes "intelligent design". Sigmund would have needed just this one case to develop nearly every tenet of Freudian Theory. Santorum's got it all - reality distortion; denial of reality; non-integrated, pos/neg, black-and-white viewpoints; view of humans as abstractified, stick-figure silhouettes because that is how he sees himself; sexual displacement; rationalization; and repression of his own basic instincts. And then we get to delusional projection with obvious paranoia and reaction formation against his own homosexual desires. Clearly stuck in the anal stage. I don't suppose he'll make it past the third debate if Americans have any sense left, but if he gets anywhere, we can look forward to the revelation that Santorum's Sanctorum contains one of the world's best collections of porn of little boys being screwed in the ass. Is there a lot of methane in the water in PA? How did this nutjob ever get elected?
    >>

Okay, so don't hire me to project outcomes. I can't believe Iowans. I've always given them credit for having common sense. We visit a lot in New Hampshire, and the people I speak with up that-a-way seem eminently sensible, too. But maybe only sensible people will speak to me?

And BTW, I'm not a Freudian psychoanalyst - it's just that this guy has "FREUDIAN NEUROTIC" emblazoned in the tattoo on his foreskin - Freudian slip - I mean, 'forehead'.

The definition of 'santorum' is fine, but it's odd that it didn't aim at the other end of his body, based on his name's Latin roots: 'sancire' one meaning of which is 'to fulfill' and 'orum' which is mouth or related to the mouth. Nevertheless, the definition is fixed in stone now, and I like the idea of it being a bit of a mess, and an 'object' rather than an 'act', although it would be easy to make a case for Santorum's entire persona being nothing other than an 'act' (in another sense of that word) - a part which he has played so long that he has become the character.

    Keep up the great job!

    Thanks,
    Frédo

  6. "Have you ever sat back and thought that what you are discussing here is a
candidate for the Commander in Chief of of the greatest country in the
    world?"

Er... did that person ever consider that the fact that some of these people are opting to be the Commander in Chief of the greatest country in the world is a direct slap in the face to the citizens of said country? (See also Palin; See also Bachman).

  7. Just a thought but simply creating a made up defintion and then a website to hawk it doesn't actually change the true dictionary definition...it just makes you look hateful and ridiculous...much of the same thing your trying to accuse others of...

  8. I am thoroughly disgusted and embarrassed to have call Rick Santorum (capital "S") a fellow citizen of the United States. I find the reporting and sharing of the man's words and deeds to be condemnation enough of his slimy beliefs and have liked this blog for doing that.

Alarmingly, though, the blog has taken a right-handed turn that I find extremely damaging to the effort.

For example, the people who created the "funny" graphics have sunk like stones to Santorum's loathesome level. Is that what you really want to share with the world: smarmy attacks instead of the awful, defendable truth?

Furthermore, I dutifully keep up my 'Net searches of the term 'santorum' (lower case "s") in order to keep his namesake in the public conciousness. However, I am well aware of what I'll find when I click through. However, the practical joker who has decided to "Rick Roll" 'chess-playing cat' videos to 'santorum' is making enemies for you. Even the most Santorum-opposed, progressive of parents will be greatly aggravated when their dewey-eyed 6 year old is deceived in this way. And people who aren't following the issues or think Santorum's not all THAT bad will become rabid enemies. This scheme will NOT "educate" people - do you seriously think that the above commentor, 'David', would have completely changed his tune if this trap had been sprung on him?

These are very poor branding strategies to which this blog, in my opinion, should not subscribe.

Please drop the desparation tactics and return to your solid "you can't make this stuff up" reporting roots. I'm surpised that you haven't yet mentioned the Italian Communist Party affiliations of Santorum's family. It's reportage that you can both cite and howl at in laughter - the irony!

  9. Intellectual arguments are rarely used to back up this kind of hate. You aren't arguing why Santorum is wrong, just that you hate him. Flawed, and very unprincipled. I could plausibly agree with you about homosexuality, but because the social left never has a serious argument for it, I consider it wrong. I have only heard a few arguments for homosexuality that don't validly apply to paedophilia or bestiality, and since you presumably don't support those, they can't apply to homosexuality.
