  2. I just noticed that the Spreading Santorum link has moved down to #4 on my Google search. How can we move it back up to #1?

  3. Someone please tell Mr. Savage that Cosi is BLOCKING his Santorum site! People need to know this. I won't be coming here anymore, and will urge others not to, until this is remedied.

  6. Hello- I see you have posted about Kristin Henson’s “Dirty Signs with Kristin” videos. They appear to be humorous, and informative to the general public. However, I find the entire series of videos AND the attention given to them by websites like yours to be a problematic action, in terms of cultural insensitivity, information fraud, and exploitation for monetary gain (since Kristin has a book deal in the works).
I teach American Sign Language (ASL) Linguistics, I am fluent in ASL, I live in an urban environment (Chicago), I work with college-age and high school-age people and I swear and talk dirty with the best of them. But the premise of the videos offend me on so many levels, and I speak not just for myself, but also for my community when I stress that Kristin Henson has extremely minimal knowledge of the barest basics of ASL. She is not qualified to be making the videos she has been posting, and she is not qualified to each any aspect of ASL, regardless of the subject matter she is discussing. She does not form signs correctly, her syntax is poor, she lacks many linguistic features of ASL, the result of which turns her signed examples of phrases and terminology into virtual gibberish.
Yes communication is wonderful, but what Kristin is attempting here is not communication. It is a mockery of a language rich in meaning and structure. In advocating this video, your website is by default an accomplice in cultural exploitation. Taking a beautiful, expressive language and then turning it into the equivalent of degenerate, incomplete, and vague mumblings, and claiming to have sufficient knowledge to teach any aspect of that language and profiting from it. Profiting from an audience who will buy her book on the faith that they will be learning accurate information. This is fraud, and cheating not only the ASL-using community, but the reading community, the community of people who are interested in learning more about ASL, and the American community out of their money on false pretenses.
Also, to continue validating a woman who has proven her complete lack of interest in improving her knowledge, minimal as it may be, of the language, of the culture, and in any meaningful interaction with the ASL community gives an indication that promoting her videos, and subsequently her book, you promote a project based on disrespect of an entire culture and language far more than maintaining integrity of information content, and integrity of language- true language, I mean, not Kristin’s arbitrary, inaccurate and falsely constructed imitation of ASL. IF Kristin was fluent, then I would not have an issue with the videos or book itself as a project, but to deliberately put forth a fraudulent series of videos and text by an unqualified instructor is socially irresponsible and an act most unconscionable.
I urge you, to seriously reconsider advocating this series of videos. Controversy and negative publicity may bring publicity, but it can also bring about questioning your integrity and respect of a culture and language that is being exploited.
    Sincerely,

    Crom Saunders
